Let's create something that matters.

CLAD Architecture and Design works on projects where architecture intersects with substantive questions: housing that serves genuine community need rather than speculative markets; institutions designed for authentic public function; buildings and strategies that contribute to climate repair and justice outcomes; research examining how architecture and policy either enable or constrain more equitable futures. We work best with clients willing to interrogate what their project actually needs rather than what convention assumes. This means engaging honestly with constraints, understanding displacement and social costs, and accepting that good architecture often requires difficult conversations alongside excellent design. Current research focuses on how policy discourse legitimates particular material outcomes, examining housing privatisation, architectural standardisation, and the possibilities for genuinely autonomous, community-responsive housing futures. This work informs practice: we bring critical literacy about power relations, governance structures, and long-term consequences to every project.
